Phytobiotics and Their Antibacterial Activity Against Major Fish Pathogens. A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract This review focuses on the characteristic of major fish bacteria, antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic substitution in aquaculture. Nowadays aquaculture represents fastest growing industry leading to use intensive semi-intensive methods resulting outbreaks bacterial diseases. Antibiotics are used treat prevent these diseases, which can cause an increase resistance. Many antibiotics applied were originally human medicine many countries do not have strict limits for their application. Annually, more than 700 000 people worldwide die from infections caused by bacteria resistant even though European rules antibiotics, death rate 33 per year. One options how resolve this problem is replacement with bioactive compounds plant origin that exhibit strong inhibitory activity against pathogenic bacteria.

The antibacterial activity of Solanum nigrum leaf, fruit and stem extracts against fish pathogens in laboratory conditions

This study aimed at investigating the antibacterial effects of extracts from leaf, fruit, and stem of Solanum nigrum on fish pathogenic bacteria. The extraction process was done using the rotary device. The leaf methanol extract and the fruit acetone extract (MIC and MBC of 25 and 12.5 ppm, respectively) showed stronger antibacterial properties. The Streptococcus iniae were the most resistant b...

Antibacterial activity of the essential oil from Rosmarinus officinalis and its major components against oral pathogens.

The essential oil of Rosmarinus officinalis L. (rosemary) was obtained by hydro-distillation and analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Sixty-two constituents were identified, representing 98.06% of the total oil content. Oxygenated monoterpenes were the predominant components. The rosemary oil was characterized as having prominent (> 5%) contents of camphor (18.9%), verbenone (11.3%...
